Exceptional Children (EC)

Orange County Schools takes great pride in the quality and variety of programs provided for children with special needs. Supported by local, state, and federal funding, these programs are staffed by outstanding professionals who work hand-in-hand with parents to ensure quality educational opportunities for all children.

A full continuum of services is available to students meeting eligibility criteria for disabilities.

Autism Connections:  Spring Series of Information Sessions for Staff & Parents of Students with Exceptional Needs

 Autism Connections is a series of information sessions designed to arm staff and parents with information, strategies, and resources to better support children with special needs.  These sessions are focused on the special needs of students with autism, but will be available and beneficial for any parents of children with disabilities.  Click HERE for More Information and Session Dates/Times.

Note to Newcomers: If you are new to Orange County and have a child who has been receiving special education services, contact the base school in your attendance area and provide them with documentation of your child's special needs (i.e., a copy of student's Individualized Education Plan). When school is not in session, you may contact the Exceptional Children Office at 919.245.4006.

If you believe your child might be in need of special education and/or related services, you should contact your school principal.
